You sweat, your heart rate rises. You feel the burn, and you feel awesome. Well that’s is one good thing about an amazing workout at the gym. What raises questions here is that you moreover go through the same feeling (minus the burn) while you are making love. Does that mean sex counts as a regular workout?
Let’s have a look at some studies done the past.
Evidence A: studies from the 1960s showed that having sex increases your heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure, which also all happen when you work out.
Evidence B: in a 2013 study, 21 couples’ vitals were tracked as they first completed a 30-minute endurance test on a treadmill, then had sex at least once per week over the course of a month. Data analysis showed having sex qualifies as a “moderate intensity” activity. It’s more or less the energy expenditure equivalent of walking uphill or playing tennis, but burns about half as many calories as running on the treadmill. But it’s still essentially exercise.
Let us also remind you that having sex burns a lot of calories, not as compared to your gym workout but it can definitely make up towards your daily exercise goal. And even though sex doesn’t last very long it still has health benefits you can compare to a regular gym workout.
So, if you miss out on hitting the gym for a day. You know how to make up for it.
And by the way, Remember. Foreplay doesn’t count as exercise
