Remember wonder boy Pranav Dhanawade? Exactly. The same kid from Mumbai who shot into fame by creating a world record scoring 1009 runs. Pranav was the news once again but this time for a reason which will make you feel bad. Pranav Dhanawade was detained by Mumbai police in a lockup for more than an hour. His crime: a delay for leaving the field where he was training.
The 16 year old was humiliated by the cops when they caught him by the collar, dragged him in to the van and took him to the station. Reportedly, the cops had asked Pranav and other kids training there to vacate the ground as a politicians chopper was supposed to land. Pranav and others stopped training and packed their bags but told the cops that they would leave in 5 minutes after finishing the stretching exercise. For this the cops lost their cool and dragged Pranav and put him in the van.
Pranav’s father told hindustantimes that he also had reached the ground at the time and the cops also put him in the van and took them to the station. He also said that no other kid was picked up. Pranav’s coach told media that “First of all, there are no proper facilities for children to train. There’s only one proper ground in that area for budding cricketers. The ground is like a temple or mosque for the players; they should get first preference there. Just a year ago, you put this kid on the pedestal and now you have treated him like a criminal” (sic).Share on Facebook
